The Webster Area Chamber of Commerce extends an open invitation to come to Northeast South Dakota and experience South Dakota hospitality at its finest. Webster is located in the Glacial Lakes region offering some of the best fishing, hunting, and outdoor activities that you will treasure for years to come. Webster is just 23 miles west of I-29 at the Highway 12 (Summit/Aberdeen) exit. We are a unique community located 45 miles in-between two larger cities, Aberdeen and Watertown at the junctions of highways 12 and 25. While staying in the Webster area you could take a day out and visit the Terry Redlin Center in Watertown or Storybook Land in Aberdeen.

Webster offers you the opportunity to stay in one of several fine motels or experience country life at our bed and breakfasts, resorts, or campgrounds. Looking for that unique gift, look no further than one of our many family owned businesses throughout the area. While you visit us don't forget to bring along swimming trunks or golf clubs.

If you like the open water and fishing then you came to the right location, where water abounds and the fish are practically jumping into the frying pan. Fish the area lakes that Tony Dean has. Come up to the Glacial Lakes Region from fishing to jet skiing or the gentle stroll in a paddle boat.

Here for hunting? The area offers the best of both worlds with goose and duck hunting in the morning and pheasant hunting in the afternoon. During the hunting season many home owners open their doors and welcome hunters the opportunity to stay with them. A time forgotten for many, but not in Webster as we offer you the chance to travel back in time and around the world at one of our two museums. The Museum of Wildlife, Science and Industry offers over 15 buildings honoring South Dakota's agricultural heritage with one of the largest collections of tractors in the state as well as a collection of wildlife mounts from around the world. The museum is located on Highway 12 in town. There is also another fine museum offering you a different approach located in the Day County Courthouse. Spring, summer, fall or winter We offer year round recreation. Spring is a great time to visit the Blue Dog Fish Hatchery, located on the west side of Blue Dog Lake where the abundance of well water makes it ideal for producing fish. Spring also brings out the goose crossing signs as goslings gather at Rush Lake and other locations throughout the area Summer beckons boaters, swimmers, anglers and campers.

An activity enjoyed by the whole family would be a visit to Fort Sisseton State park which offers a rare reminder of western frontier. Their festival brings out the cannons and cavalry is held the first weekend in June. For the bird watchers Waubay National Wildlife refuge located just outside of Webster offers the only spot in the country were all five members of the Grebe Family can be found. An observation tower offers panoramic view of the area. Fall brings on the hunters with an abundance of water fowl from the giant Canadian, snow and blue geese to the Gadwall, mallard and other ducks that abound in the area. Winter brings out the sleds for the snowmobilers or wax up the skies for a moonlit trek around the area.
